Lab Safety

• Food and/or drinks are not allowed in the labs or the machine shop.

• Loose clothing (lab coats, long sleeves, ties, etc.), loose jewelry, loose long hair, and/or unrestrained ID badges are not allowed in the machine shop.

• Discard needles, injection pipettes, razor blades, etc. in sharps containers. Do not recap needles.

• Dispose of broken glass in the broken-glass container.

• Clean up spills appropriately and promptly.

• Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used when working with chemical hazards, biological hazards, and/or physical hazards.

• All personnel must evacuate the building during a fire emergency alarm situation.

• Machine Shop (E-350) Access: after watching the machine shop safety video, fill out the attestation form and return via email to the BMUS Lab Manager (Sonia Vader, sonia.vader@simmons.edu).
